“Truth can only be found in one place: the code.” ― Robert C. Martin, Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship

The first time I was introduced to DSC-HITK was during the orientation session of my freshman year. The DSC lead had an engulfing presentation of 10 mins which not only explained what DSC is but also showcased the different tracks taught and followed by them. He ended the presentation by saying this may not fetch you points for your college degree but it will surely fetch you points for life. I had made up my mind to be a part from that very day.

All the new members were first introduced to the different tracks and then the respective TA’s of the tracks presented to us the ongoing projects and what topics they would be teaching us. The different tracks included mobile and web development, AI and cloud engineering, and the general design and user interface. My knowledge at the beginning was limited to just JAVA but after being an active member my programming skills increased. The interactive teaching patterns of the TA’s kept the members involved all the time. Then often made it competitive with swags as rewards for quizzes. The management of the sessions was always very professional and the TA’s took special attention that everyone was moving along at the same pace. DSC-HITK collaborated with Woman Techmakers and held interactive sessions on Google Cloud and Flutter. Flutter Study Jams were also conducted which included hackathons. This not only helps us to interact with people already present in the professional world but also gives us an insight into the competition and the advancements made in the respective tracks. The vast learning procedure has changed my outlook towards programming and development in general. Now I aim at learning more and impart whatever I gained from my peers and TA’s to other DSC members.

Cheers,
Abhishek Sen,
