Things In Tech That Excite Me In 2019

I woke up 2 mornings ago, thinking about some amazing things in tech and I got lost in thoughts.

Then, I got to work. I work in tech, so I saw more tech and starting thinking about more tech. I think I got tech-drunk. Then I thought, I should write a short post talking about some things in tech that excite me.

Is there anything easier than talking about things you’re excited about?

Here are a few things that I can go on and on about, and probably bum you out

1.Virtual Reality — I’ve had a VR Headset for a while now and yes, I thought it was cool but it never really ‘excited’ me till Facebook’s annual developer conference (F8). These type of conferences are held yearly by companies to announce their new products and other cool stuff they have been working on. When I was watching the live stream of F8, Facebook announced 2 new virtual reality headsets — Oculus Rift S & Oculus Quest. I got a chance to try out the Oculus Quest in real life yesterday and it’s immersive and the best part is that you don’t have to worry about hitting any obstacle in the real world because it maps out your play area in some cool way. I think I’m now interested in trying out VR development. Time will tell.

2. Self Driving Cars — This is something that will never stop to make me excited. Teslas, in particular, I love Teslas so much. My particular preference for tesla could be because I used to be an Elon Musk fanboy. They’re costly, but it would be my first choice for a car any day. The best part is that tesla offers a free test drive. If there was a tesla showroom near me I’d have done it a while back. Here’s a quote from a tesla forum I read about the risks of test driving if you can’t afford it

If you know deep down you want one and can financially work it, go take that test drive. Then it’s just a matter of time before you end up running numbers, reading forums, thinking about it, asking friends, etc, before you pull the trigger and snag. But if you want one and can’t afford it, don’t test drive it! It’ll ruin your other car driving experiences, or have you consider a purchase that isn’t financially going to work. — https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/dont-test-drive-a-tesla-unless-you-want-to-buy-one.96765/

3. Blockchain — This is another thing I’m interested in. I think it’s revolutionary but the reason a lot of people aren’t so receptive (at least for now) is due to how seemingly complicated it is. I agree it’s hard to understand but I took a course last year (https://www.udemy.com/build-your-blockchain-az/) that made me understand blockchain technologies in-depth. Yeah. So there are a couple of other noteworthy mentions such as Robotics or Distributed systems or even time travel. I just felt I should end it here.

Thanks for reading. :)
